Berlin hosts a lea market every Sunday in the RAW complex in Friedrichshain

R.A.W Flea Market

Where Berlin’s underground speaks — in fashionable fabric, street food, and spray paint.

Berlin is famous for its flea markets. Spread across a sprawling, vibrant, gritty cultural complex in an abandoned former railway, Friedrichshain’s RAW (pronounced by locals “R-A-Vay”) comes alive on Sundays. As you venture in, you’ll find dozens of stalls adorned with chaotic rack upon rack of leather jackets, retro windbreakers, upcycled corsets and even the perfect pair of y2k jeans you’ve been hunting down. Not to mention all the accessories – studded belts, techno sunglasses, platform boots and chunky statement jewellery. Many of the sellers are independent designers or collectors, happy to chat about what inspired them or how they source and upcycle their pieces. Some sell their work straight out of nearby studios, like MoZhou, known for her unique body jewelry and leather chokers.

Need a break from browsing? Look to your surroundings for endless street art. At one end of the complex, Urban Spree showcases graffiti artists from around the world like Martha Cooper! Or, perhaps all the bargain hunting has worked up an appetite: follow the smell of sizzling vegan döner, Korean bibimbap, or wood-fired pizza to the food trucks.

Our tip: bring cash and arrive early (opens at 8am) for the freshest picks, and return later for reduced-price unsold pieces (don’t be afraid to haggle). You might run into someone stumbling around in last night’s club outfit — you’re not imagining it. Clubs like Cassiopeia and the White Rabbit are right next door!
