Treetop Travel Journalism’s first travel writing competition

We are delighted to announce that as of today (October 8th) we are running a travel writing competition.

We ask for entrants to submit an article of 500-600 words. The piece of work can be any form of travel journalism – a story of a journey abroad, a restaurant review, a cultural feature or a political piece etc.

Entry to the competition closes November 8th.

The winner and a friend will be able to join one of our travel writing courses in Berlin, for the price of one.

Our project also consists of language classes, street art workshops and custom tours of Berlin.

You and your friend will gain work experience, feature in a published travel guide to Berlin, develop a new language, create unique street art and discover the city’s hidden gems.

The winner of the competition can use their prize for our December 2019 project, or any of our 2020 projects.

All entries are to be sent to with the subject ‘2019 travel writing competition’

So we would have to pay for ourselves to go even if we win?

Hey, sorry for the late reply! Yes the winter project normally costs €1099 euros, but the winner is able to bring a friend for free (so it’s essentially €550 each). The project has a lot of activities, language classes, tours of Berlin and street art workshops, so in the end I have to charge to run it properly! If you have any questions at all please do get in touch –
