The famous berlin street simon dach strasse

Simon-Dach-Straße is a street situated in Berlin’s buzzing district of Friedrichshain. It is seemingly endless – block after block of cafes, restaurants and bars on either side. The sheer range of cuisine on offer is quite staggering although, having lived nearby for a year and a half, it must be said none of the food really stands out. For me the highlights are Paul’s Metal Eck – a heavy metal rock bar that throws you in at the deep end as soon as you enter, and the large Späti named Markethalle – great for cheap drinks and seats that sprawl out onto the pavement. This road attracts more than its fair share of tourists, but I can’t help but be drawn by its ambience at nighttime; languages from across the globe coupled with enticing music and multi-coloured lights leave you happy simply walking down it. Many of the side roads that fork from Simon-Dach have their own mystical qualities, too. But this is the main artery in this part of town.
